Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd has addressed the prolonged wait for the band’s ninth studio album, ‘Something In The Water,’ shedding light on why the anticipated release failed to arrive as originally planned.
The multi-platinum alternative rock outfit began teasing the album last spring, with an expected October release window. Boyd even suggested in April that the record was finished, noting that a new single would be arriving “shortly.” However, neither the single nor the album materialized, leaving fans questioning the status of the project.
Boyd provided an update via his personal Instagram on January 8, revealing that the band ultimately made the decision to return to the studio after initially completing the album. According to Boyd, the group wrote and recorded additional material, effectively extending the timeline.
“I’m thinking back on the year 2025 and I’m almost dizzy from its oscillations between agony and ecstasy. For some reason I sense many of you had similar experiences in 2025,” Boyd shared.
“The agonies have given rise to so much new art though, as soon to be demonstrated in our recently completed (again) new album. It’s a long story but we went back into the studio to write and record more after thinking we were done.”
Boyd also reflected on the band’s extensive touring and connection with fans throughout the year, while teasing that more updates are coming soon.
“The ecstasies almost speak for themselves in the form of so many wonderful nights spent singing with so many of you around the world. I’ll pop back in soon and update you on when new music will be ready to share.”
While a revised release date for ‘Something In The Water’ has yet to be announced, Boyd’s comments suggest the album is now fully completed once again, with further news expected in the near future.

Talk about a band that fucked up their entire vibe
How the fuck do you go from morning view to whatever the fuck everything else was.
Don Jaun Demarcoto be fair Sick Sad Little World on the next album is easily their best track. But fosho… they have a few fire tracks mix in the next albums but most of the out was eh.
Don Jaun Demarco just perception. ❤️
I’ve followed them since the beginning and really enjoy all their work, but it has definitely morphed a lot through the years. Unfortunately Brandon’s voice has changed and it’s getting hard for me to enjoy his new sound. I hope I like this new work they are going to put out.
He doesnt sound the same anymore 😔
