Inferi have officially announced their new studio album ‘Heaven Wept’, set for release on April 10th via The Artisan Era. The death metal outfit have also unveiled the record’s opening track, “The Rapture Of Dead Light,” alongside an accompanying official music video, marking the first glimpse into the band’s next chapter.
The album arrives following a turbulent period of lineup changes, which the band addressed in a detailed collective statement. Inferi revealed that ‘Heaven Wept’ represents their 2026 release and the longest gap between albums since reforming in 2014. The writing process was heavily impacted by the departure of guitarist Mike Low, forcing the band to scrap and rewrite material entirely before bringing Sanjay Kumar (Wormhole, Equipoise) into the fold.
Additional changes saw Andrew Kim depart to join Brand Of Sacrifice, with Malcolm Pugh stepping in on bass. The album also serves as the final Inferi release featuring drummer Spencer Moore, who has since joined Archspire. Despite those shifts, the band opted to reunite with Mike Low for recording, mixing, and mastering duties, citing his familiarity with their sound as essential during the transition.
According to Inferi, the end result is their most crushing and diverse release to date, pushing their technical and melodic foundations to new extremes while remaining true to the band’s core identity.
