Just days after Twin Temple were removed from Charley Crockett’s upcoming tour over concerns regarding the band’s satanic imagery, the self-described “satanic doo-wop” act has received a high-profile show offer from none other than Jack White.
The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee took to social media on July 10 to personally invite Twin Temple to open his September 29 performance at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California.
White wrote:
“Twin Temple, Would you like to open my show in L.A. on September 29th at the Hollywood Palladium? Let me know. Get in front of me Satan!”
The invitation comes in the wake of Charley Crockett’s decision to remove the band from several upcoming tour dates after objecting to their use of satanic themes and imagery.
When discussing the decision earlier this week, Crockett remarked:
“I thought they were like Black Sabbath but they ain’t. Not today Satan.”
Not surprisingly, Twin Temple were quick to accept the invitation.
Vocalist Alexandra James responded directly to White’s offer, writing:
“Unholy hell…. Sir Jack, you have no idea what this means to us. Lifelong fans- dead leaves on the dirty ground was one of the first songs I (Alex) ever learned on guitar. We were actually planning on coming to this show. It would be a most infernal pleasure to play the devils music with you.”
The exchange quickly gained attention online, turning what began as a controversial tour removal into a major opportunity for Twin Temple to perform alongside one of modern rock’s most respected figures.
Assuming all goes according to plan, Twin Temple will join Jack White at the Hollywood Palladium on September 29, giving the band a significant platform following their highly publicized departure from Charley Crockett’s tour.
