Self-described “satanic doo-wop” duo Twin Temple have been removed from Charley Crockett’s upcoming tour dates after the country singer reportedly objected to the band’s use of satanic imagery.
In a statement shared on July 8, Twin Temple confirmed that they had been informed they would no longer be appearing on the scheduled shows.
“Today we were informed that Charley Crockett has decided to remove Twin Temple from his upcoming shows next week due to our Satanic imagery.
Unfortunately, that means we will not be able to perform for you next week as planned. We are really disappointed as we were looking forward to getting back out and seeing you, and also what it meant as far as bringing different types of people and music lovers together. We are sorry to everyone who was planning to see us. We’re grateful for your support, not only of Twin Temple, but more importantly of artistic freedom. HAIL SATAN! 93/93.”
The decision has raised eyebrows given that Twin Temple’s embrace of the occult is hardly a secret. The band’s entire identity is built around satanic themes, imagery, and lyrics, with songs such as “Lucifer, My Love,” “Satan’s A Woman,” and “Let’s Have A Satanic Orgy” among their most popular tracks across streaming platforms.
Speaking with Rolling Stone about the situation, Charley Crockett offered a brief explanation for the decision.
“I thought they were like Black Sabbath but they ain’t. Not today Satan.”
While the pairing between Twin Temple and Crockett may not have worked out, the band won’t be short on touring opportunities. Later this year, they are scheduled to hit the road alongside Danzig, Burning Witches, and ANA, a lineup that appears far more aligned with their aesthetic and musical approach.
The cancellation serves as a reminder that even in today’s diverse touring landscape, not every artist pairing is destined to coexist once the details become fully apparent.
