Industrial metal veteran Justin K Broadrick has landed two guest spots on indie artist Phoebe Bridgers’ newly released album, ‘Lost Weekend.’
The collaboration may seem unexpected given Broadrick’s work with Godflesh, but his involvement actually stems from his Jesu project. A statement from Broadrick’s camp clarified the circumstances surrounding the pairing today, August 14th:
“Justin K Broadrick, as jesu, plays guitar on 2 songs on the new album from Phoebe Bridgers – ‘Lost Weekend.’
Justin performs on:
Track 05 ‘Bobby.’
And, the ‘hidden’ last song on the album:
Track D17 on the vinyl and Track 00 on CD – ‘Best Dressed.’”
The statement also noted that Bridgers specifically approached Broadrick because of her appreciation for Jesu, rather than his work with Godflesh:
“A lot of initial reports on the album appear to highlight Justin’s career as Godflesh, whereas Phoebe Bridgers approached Justin due to her love of his jesu project, and it is in this capacity that Justin appears on 2 songs on this album.”
