Originally released in 2009, “I’m Coming Home (Big Gulps)” was the first song ever written by Sleeping With Sirens. The track has recently found a new audience online, with renewed attention on TikTok and other platforms prompting Quinn to return to the song for a new acoustic recording.
Quinn explained that the original version was recorded on a MacBook when the band was just getting started, making the new recording an opportunity to properly revisit the song nearly two decades later.
“Big Gulps was the very first Sleeping With Sirens song ever written, so it’s pretty amazing to see our fans digging through our old content on YouTube and watching it take off on TikTok. That said, the original recording was literally recorded on a MacBook back in 2009. So, I wanted to get back into the studio and properly rerecord a new acoustic version of the song. Thank you for being such incredible fans for so long and we hope you enjoy this new version of Big Gulps.”
The song’s revival also arrives alongside an unexpected callback to a 2013 incident involving Quinn and Sykes.
At the time, Sykes publicly criticized Sleeping With Sirens after the band offered an $80 VIP package, sarcastically comparing the idea to a hypothetical paid photo opportunity with himself. Quinn defended the offering, arguing that fans who weren’t interested in purchasing the package simply didn’t have to do so.
More than a decade later, Bring Me The Horizon have seemingly revisited that exchange themselves. The band recently shared a self-deprecating video promoting their own VIP packages, with Sykes using the opportunity to apologize to Quinn for his earlier comments.
The apology brings a humorous conclusion to a piece of post-hardcore history that began during the early years of both bands’ careers.
