The U.S. Army has suspended the aircrew involved in a controversial helicopter flyby filmed at Kid Rock’s Nashville, Tennessee property, according to a new report from NBC News.
The incident drew widespread attention over the weekend after the musician — a longtime supporter of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump — shared video footage on social media showing two Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopters flying low over his mansion. The residence, which Rock has previously dubbed “The Southern White House,” was custom built with architectural elements meant to resemble the White House.
In the video, Rock is seen saluting and celebrating as the helicopters approach and hover above the property. The flyby reportedly took place on Saturday, March 28. The same aircraft were also observed operating in the general area of Nashville during the “No Kings” protests held that day, part of a broader international demonstration opposing policies connected to Trump and his administration.
Rock captioned the clip with a pointed political remark aimed at California Governor Gavin Newsom, writing, “This is a level of respect that shit for brains Governor of California will never know. God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her.”
The post quickly generated polarized reactions online. Supporters praised the display, while critics questioned whether military resources — funded by taxpayers — were being used for what appeared to be a celebrity publicity stunt.
On March 30, reports surfaced that the U.S. Army had opened an investigation into what was described as an apparently unscheduled flight deviation connected to the incident. Army officials later stated that the helicopters’ presence near the Nashville protests was “entirely coincidental,” though scrutiny remained focused on their actions at Rock’s residence.
By March 31, NBC News reported that the aircrew involved had been suspended pending further review. As of press time, Army officials had not provided additional details regarding the nature or length of the suspensions and did not respond to requests for further comment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
