Kid Rock Storms Off Stage Over Unenthusiastic Crowd

Kid Rock made headlines once again this past weekend after storming offstage during a live performance at JBJ’s Nashville, the Bon Jovi-owned restaurant and venue in Nashville, TN. The event was part of a birthday celebration for Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan Rashbaum, but it quickly took an awkward turn when Rock lost patience with the audience’s lack of enthusiasm.

The outspoken rap-rock/country artist had joined the stage to help front a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s 2× multi-platinum 1969 hit “Proud Mary” alongside Bryan and company. However, about two minutes into the song, he grew visibly annoyed when the crowd failed to keep up with the clapping pattern he had initiated earlier. Stopping the performance, Rock voiced his frustration, saying:

“F–k them. F–k them. Hey, hey, stop. If you ain’t gonna clap, we [ain’t] gonna sing. That’s how it’s gonna go.”

Despite resuming the song and making further efforts to guide the audience’s clapping—warning them not to get “too fast”—his frustration only escalated as the lack of participation continued. Eventually, Rock halted the performance once more and stormed off, declaring:

“You know what? F*ck y’all, you ain’t gonna clap, I’m gone.”

True to his word, Rock left the stage and reportedly did not return for the remainder of the night.

No further comments have been made by Kid Rock or those involved in the event, but the incident has certainly added another chapter to the artist’s long history of headline-grabbing moments.
