Lamb Of God Perform National Anthem And First Pitch At Richmond Flying Squirrels Game

Lamb Of God returned to their hometown of Richmond, Virginia on Thursday, June 4, taking part in a special “Heavy Metal Night” at CarMax Park during the Richmond Flying Squirrels vs. Erie SeaWolves game.

The band was featured throughout the evening in multiple ceremonial roles, highlighting their deep connection to the city where they first formed in the mid-1990s.

Guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler performed the U.S. national anthem, while the group also participated in the game’s opening ceremony by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

Later in the night, drummer Art Cruz and vocalist Randy Blythe joined fans for the seventh-inning stretch, performing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” as part of the in-game entertainment.

The event marked the first-ever “Heavy Metal Night” at CarMax Park, further cementing the band’s status as hometown icons in Richmond’s music history.

Lamb Of God formed in Richmond in the 1990s and went on to become one of the most influential modern metal bands in the United States. Their albums Ashes Of The Wake and Sacrament both achieved RIAA gold certification.

Their most recent album, Into Oblivion, released earlier this year, has received widespread critical acclaim across major music outlets.
