Limp Bizkit brought the chaos to Ataköy Marina in Istanbul, Turkey on August 17th, where frontman Fred Durst took matters into his own hands against an unexpected intruder — a drone.
The nü-metal icons ripped through a 14-song set, but it was during their performance of “Take A Look Around” when Durst noticed several drones flying above the crowd. Motioning one closer, he lured it within striking distance before smacking it out of the sky with his microphone. Security then tossed the disabled drone into the audience.
Durst had some extra fun with the moment, joking that actor Tom Cruise had flown in for the show but was “too shy” to appear onstage — a nod to the song’s origins on the Mission: Impossible 2 soundtrack.
He also told fans that it might be the last time Limp Bizkit are allowed to perform in Turkey, though he didn’t elaborate further.
Fan-filmed footage of Durst’s drone takedown — which even outdid Mike Patton’s infamous failed attempt — has since surfaced online. Both can be seen below.
