Authorities in St. Johns County, FL have revealed more information regarding the recent passing of Limp Bizkit bassist and co-founder Sam Rivers. According to TMZ, officials responded to a call on Saturday, October 18th, for a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest.” The case is currently classified as an “attended death,” suggesting Rivers had been under medical care for a serious or life-threatening illness.
Fans have speculated that Rivers may have been battling cancer, after DJ Lethal shared a photo of Rivers wearing a shirt with the phrase “f*** cancer” during the band’s last tour. Rivers, who was 48, had previously faced health challenges, including a liver transplant following struggles with addiction.
Following his passing, Limp Bizkit released a statement mourning their longtime bassist, while Fred Durst posted an emotional video tribute reflecting on Rivers’ profound impact on the band.
Despite the loss, the band will move forward with their previously scheduled ‘Gringo Papi Tour’, beginning November 29th in Mexico City. Promoters for the show released a statement confirming that the performance will go on as a tribute to Rivers’ legacy:
“In such a significant moment for the band and its fans, Limp Bizkit has decided to continue with its performance on November 29th… That night, every riff and every scream of the crowd will resonate in honor of the great legacy Sam offered to nu-metal.”
The ‘Gringo Papi Tour’ features Yungblud, 311, Ecca Vandal, Riff Raff, and Slay Squad, with the following dates confirmed:
11/29 Mexico City, MEX – Explanada del Estadio Banorte
