Linkin Park has released the Maciej Kuciara and pplpleasr directed video below for their previously unreleased single “Lost“. The track is from the band’s sessions while preparing their 2003 sophomore album Meteora.
Mike Shinoda, the band’s vocalist, offered the following on the song:
“Finding ‘Lost‘ was like finding a favorite photo you had forgotten you’d taken, like it was waiting for the right moment to reveal itself.”
While speaking to KROQ, Shinoda elaborated:
“At the time, if I remember right — it was a long time ago. The inspiration was looking back on memories that you get sucked into. And you just get immersed in that nostalgia, or good feeling or bad feeling. In the case of this song I think there was a bunch of not-so-good stuff.
But it’s bittersweet, it’s a mixed bag. Because there’s good stuff in there, too. Things aren’t black and white or cut and dry. And that’s what I like about the lyrics of the song.”
But it’s also a song that was this close to being on the record. The one right on the other side of the line was this song ‘Lost‘ and the only reason it didn’t go on is because it had the same intensity of ‘Numb.’”
With the 20th anniversary of the band’s aforementioned 7x multi-platinum certified sophomore album, the band will be releasing a deluxe box set for the record that will be released on April 07th.
There will be several formats of the box set available including standard digital releases as well as 5-LP/4CD/3-DVD super deluxe version which will include live performances and unreleased demos.
The live performances included are a Philadelphia, PA performance at Veterans Stadium in 2003, a show they played in Seoul, South Korea, and a Denver, CO date from their 2004 ‘Projekt Revolution Tour‘ and a performance in Manila, Philippines in 2004.
