Linkin Park’s Emily Armstrong Discusses Joining the Band, Chemistry with Bandmates, and New Single “Up From The Bottom”

Linkin Park’s newest vocalist, Emily Armstrong, recently sat down with Lauren O’Neil of Q101 for a special episode of ‘Women Who Make Q101‘. During the interview, Armstrong discussed her journey, creative process, and how she developed her musical connection with her new bandmates. Transcribed by Blabbermouth.net:

“It’s interesting because I think we’ve talked about it a lot where it’s just kind of, we didn’t [run] in the same circles. It was so far and few between. But when we started writing again for the second time in the studio, things started to really click in a way where we found so many similarities that didn’t quite click before. I don’t know if this makes any sense, but there was so many things of being, like, ‘Wait, you worked with this guy? We did that with our first album.’ Literally so many things started to like come together where it’s just the synergy that is a kismet. Everything was just aligning in a way where it was so surreal to me, because I’m, like, how have I never met any of these people before, and then all of a sudden at this point where everything starts to really make sense and where we are in our lives as them as people in their band and me as an artist and in my band, how it really came together at a time where we both were looking for this. We found so many similarities that it just started bringing us closer and closer together. It was, like, ‘Okay, this is it.'”

Linkin Park is gearing up to release their new single, “Up From The Bottom,” on March 27, marking their first new music since dropping their comeback album, From Zero, last November. The track was recently teased in the band’s LPTV video series, featuring Armstrong and co-vocalist Mike Shinoda working together in the studio.

The band has been back on the road for the 2025 leg of their From Zero world tour, which kicked off on January 31 in Mexico City. Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain officially joined the group last year, following the tragic loss of frontman Chester Bennington. The band’s lineup now includes Shinoda, guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell, DJ Joe Hahn, and fill-in guitarist Alex Feder, who is covering for Delson at live shows.

Linkin Park’s From Zero world tour continues this spring and summer, with stops across North America before heading to South America in November.
