Ill Niño and former touring guitarist Xander Raymond Charles have publicly addressed their recent separation, offering clarification after the musician’s unexpected exit from the band just weeks before their scheduled live debut together.
Charles initially revealed the split on March 22nd, explaining that his departure came shortly after being brought on as a permanent replacement earlier this year. At the time, he shared the following statement:
“In the beginning of 2026, I was hired by the band ILL NINO to become a permanent replacement and the newest member. Last night, I received a call telling me they no longer need me as a replacement. This was a total shock, as I was committed for several months, and the first show is 3 weeks away. I was informed this decision was completely out of my control, and I had nothing to do with it.
As of today, I am available for work. If anyone needs a guitar player, I’m here. I keep my word, and I commit to what I agree to.
Lastly, there is no bad blood, and I understand this is strictly a business decision. I wish ILL NINO nothing but the best.
XRC”
Following speculation among fans online, both parties issued a joint statement on March 31st aimed at clearing up the situation and confirming the split was handled amicably.
“We would like to clear the air regarding the events of the past week. Following a last-minute lineup change that impacted Xander Raymond Charles’ touring schedule, both parties have met to resolve the matter professionally.
Ill Niño has decided to continue with their current touring lineup, and schedule. This decision was based on a scheduling conflict, and is in no way a reflection of Xander’s talent, character, or professionalism. We are moving forward with mutual respect and no hard feelings.
Xander shared: “Ill Niño is a legendary band, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them.”
Both parties wish each other nothing but success moving forward.
Ill Niño – XRC”
Charles later added further context in the comments of the announcement post, stating that the joint message was intended to “set the record straight, and to avoid any gossip.”
The guitarist had only recently joined Ill Niño as their new touring guitarist earlier in 2026, making the lineup change notably brief before the band’s upcoming live commitments.
