Bay Area metal veterans Machine Head were recently honored during a stop in Albuquerque, New Mexico, receiving the ceremonial keys to the Albuquerque City Jail from Mayor Tim Keller.
Keller has become known among heavy music fans for recognizing artists who perform in the city, previously presenting honors to members of Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Parkway Drive, Trivium, and several other notable acts.
While many musicians have traditionally been awarded the keys to the city, Machine Head took home a slightly different distinction, with frontman Robb Flynn and his bandmates receiving the keys to the city’s jail instead.
The honor came during Machine Head’s current North American tour alongside Killswitch Engage, Havok, and Iron Reagan. The ongoing run is set to wrap up this weekend before additional tour dates kick off in August.
