Christian metalcore artist Magdalene Rose has shared a positive update following recent controversy surrounding canceled church appearances on her current tour.
As previously reported, Rose faced backlash from several churches tied to her run with Seventh Day Slumber, Jason Dunn of Hawk Nelson fame, and Nate Parrish of Kutless. According to Rose, some venues objected to her heavier metalcore sound, stage image, clothing, and makeup.
Now, one of those situations has reportedly taken a different turn after a youth pastor from a church that canceled her appearance reached out with an apology.
Rose explained in a video message that the pastor’s wife sent her a screenshot of a heartfelt note in which he said he wished he had handled the situation differently and acknowledged the positive impact her music has on listeners.
“He wanted to send a really heartfelt apology explaining that he wished he would’ve done things differently… acknowledging that there are people being reached through this music and just hoping that I could forgive him.”
Rose said the gesture meant more to her than headlines or online attention, noting that she rarely gets direct communication or closure in situations like this.
“That’s the first apology I’ve ever been offered when it comes to situations like this.”
She also emphasized that her original public comments were never about stirring controversy, but about encouraging real discussion and change within Christian communities.
“It wasn’t me trying to go viral or trying to church bash… I was hoping people would see that and some sort of change happen.”
Rose went on to say she has since received messages from people reconsidering their relationship with church, as well as others admitting they had judged her unfairly and were rethinking their perspectives.
She described the overall response as proof that honest conversation can lead to growth, healing, and reconciliation.
“Things can be solved. Things can change. It all comes from just having a conversation and being willing to speak up.”
For an artist whose music exists at the intersection of faith and heavy music, the moment appears to be a meaningful step forward after a difficult public episode.
