Norwegian avant-garde metallers Shining have unveiled their latest single, “NORTH“, along with an accompanying music video. The band head into the snowy wilderness for the visual, which ties directly into the song’s inspiration and its focus on the harsh landscapes and spirit of the north.
According to frontman Jørgen Munkeby, the track serves as an ode to the northern lands and the resilience of the people shaped by them:
“‘NORTH’ is a salute to the ice-cold North—its darkness, its harsh winters and the defiance of the people shaped by them. At its core, it’s a song about Northern perseverance and ‘The Northern Way’: that stubborn, self-reliant spirit that has driven SHINING from the beginning.”
Shining are also continuing work on their next studio album, with further new music expected to arrive in the future. In the meantime, the band have the following live dates scheduled:
