Malevolence have found themselves at odds with the National Trust, a U.K. organization dedicated to protecting culturally significant properties, over their recent video for “Salt The Wound”. The British groove metalcore band shared that the video, originally posted via Nuclear Blast’s YouTube channel on May 21st, was forcibly taken down following legal threats from the heritage preservation group.
In a public statement, Malevolence explained:
“Sadly our latest video for ‘Salt The Wound’ has been forcibly removed from the Nuclear Blast YouTube channel due to threats of legal action made by @nationaltrust. Apparently pretending to play the guitar for a couple of hours on a public path that thousands of tourists walk up every single day is a criminal offence worth pursuing. Attempts were made by our team to find a resolution for the situation, which have been entirely refused.”
The band emphasized that the video was “a celebration of where we come from” and expressed frustration at the lack of compromise. Despite the takedown, a version of the video has resurfaced online, uploaded by a user under the alias “Trust Issues” — a likely nod to the conflict.
“Salt The Wound” appears on the band’s upcoming album Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, due out June 20th through Nuclear Blast.
