In This Moment vocalist Maria Brink is preparing to finally bring her long-discussed Coven solo project to life.
During a new interview with Rock Sound, Brink revealed that she intends to work on her first solo release during the gap between In This Moment’s latest album and the band’s next studio effort.
Brink plans to officially call the project Coven, explaining that pursuing the solo endeavor will also give her and In This Moment guitarist Chris Howorth additional time to develop the band’s next album.
“I am doing my first solo project between this [In This Moment’s newest album ‘Witch’] and their next studio effort. Maria Brink’s Coven — I’m gonna call it Coven, and that’s gonna be my first thing that I’ve done. And then that gives Chris [Howorth, In This Moment guitarist] and I some extra time to really perfect the next In This Moment album between the two. I’m excited.”
The comments mark a significant update on Coven, a project Brink has been discussing for some time. Rather than immediately moving into another In This Moment album cycle, Brink now appears set to use that period for her first solo venture before returning her focus to the band’s next record.
