PIGGY D. Praises Marilyn Manson’s Sobriety: “He’s An Inspiration To People”

Among those championing the controversial return of multi-platinum shock rocker Marilyn Manson is his current touring bassist, Matt “Piggy D.” Montgomery. Formerly a longtime collaborator with Rob Zombie from 2006 through 2024, Piggy D. joined up with Manson for his ongoing comeback, which began taking shape last year.

Manson’s once-dominant career ground to a halt following a wave of disturbing allegations made by over a dozen women amid the pandemic-era reckoning. Several of those accusations evolved into civil lawsuits, and though authorities conducted investigations, no criminal charges were filed. While many of the cases have since been settled, Manson still faces a number of unresolved legal matters tied to those allegations.

Back in April, Montgomery publicly supported the now sober Manson, commending his personal turnaround. In a newly aired interview with Radioactive MikeZ on KCAL 96.7, he reaffirmed his stance and praised Manson’s renewed focus and resilience:

“He’s amazing. His focus is sharp and he is an inspiration to people; he really is. And I’m proud to stand next to him, because I think he’s representing hard. And as somebody that’s been in and out of sobriety over the years, it’s amazing to see somebody turn their life around. It’s always an amazing story. It doesn’t matter who they are. It’s always an amazing story. The miracle is never lost on me. You put a microphone in front of it, you can do some good. And it’s cool.”

While Manson has not yet announced a formal release date for new music, his live appearances and gradual return to public life suggest that more developments may be on the horizon.
