Australian metalcore outfit Melting have unleashed a new music video for their latest single, “The Sword”, continuing the rollout for their upcoming EP, ‘A Pathetic Excuse For A Life’, due out May 29th.
Clocking in at just over a minute in length, the track delivers a short but aggressive preview of the band’s forthcoming material. Guitarist Alex Bertuna explained that the song was written as a direct response to complacency and self-doubt, stating:
“The EP as a whole tackles some very personal, dark and heavy topics for Xavier, but I wrote ‘The Sword’ to be something of a ‘stop letting life happen to you’ kind of thing. Stop begging for guidance, figure it out yourself, hold the f*ckin sword.”
The band also elaborated on the broader themes explored throughout the EP, explaining:
“The way we see it – every song is pointed at a different kind of person that can make your life feel like hell. There’s an undertone of overcoming it running throughout though.”
‘A Pathetic Excuse For A Life’ is set to arrive on May 29th.
