German symphonic deathcore outfit Mental Cruelty have unveiled their chilling new single “Frost”, accompanied by an official music video directed by Riivata Visuals.
The track will appear on the band’s upcoming Nordic mythology-inspired album, ‘Echoes Of A Forlorn Land’, which is due out October 23 through Century Media.
Lyrically and musically, “Frost” draws from the concept of Fimbulwinter, the brutal three-year winter that precedes Ragnarök in Norse mythology. The band describe the track as one of their most atmospheric and mournful offerings to date.
Mental Cruelty commented:
“‘Frost’ is Mental Cruelty at our most chilling, capturing the desolation of Norse mythology’s Fimbulwinter both lyrically and musically. Its plodding, atmospheric, and mournful tones evoke a slow trudge through ice and snow, stretching on for three long years. Think Rotting Christ meets Wardruna: a song that’s as blackened as it is coated in white snow.”
Once ‘Echoes Of A Forlorn Land’ arrives, Mental Cruelty will hit the road for their first full-fledged European/UK headlining tour.
Ov Sulfur and Extermination Dismemberment will join the run, with Sun Eater appearing on the first leg and Arcanius taking over support duties for the second.
