Metallica’s charitable foundation, All Within My Hands, has donated $100,000 to support relief efforts following the pair of devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24.
The contribution was made through the foundation’s longtime partner, Direct Relief, and will help provide emergency medical assistance, search-and-rescue operations, and aid for residents displaced by the disaster.
According to the announcement, Direct Relief is working alongside regional and local organizations to distribute first-aid supplies, hygiene kits, medications for acute injuries, and treatments for people whose access to routine healthcare has been disrupted by the earthquakes.
The grant will also help fund the deployment of the Spain-based search-and-rescue organization Bomberos Unidos Sin Fronteras, which is assisting with emergency response efforts on the ground.
