Metallica have partnered with the upcoming video game ‘Gears Of War: E-Day’, bringing both their music and iconic imagery into the highly anticipated title.
An instrumental version of Metallica’s classic song ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ will be featured in the game and available as a selectable music option for the main menu. Players will also be able to use the track in versus mode and horde siege mode lobbies.
According to the announcement, ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ will be one of four music selections available at launch, with additional musical content expected to be added in the future.
Beyond the music, Metallica fans will also have access to a premium in-game skin pack inspired by the band’s legendary album ‘Ride The Lightning.’ The cosmetic set will be available as a purchasable add-on for players looking to bring Metallica’s visual identity into the game.
The collaboration extends to the game’s marketing as well, with the studio version of ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ serving as the soundtrack for the newly released multiplayer reveal trailer.
Originally released in 1984 on ‘Ride The Lightning,’ ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ remains one of Metallica’s most recognizable songs and has become a staple of the band’s live performances.
‘Gears Of War: E-Day’ is scheduled to launch on October 6th for Xbox and Windows platforms. The game serves as a prequel to the original ‘Gears Of War’, taking place approximately 14 years before the events of the 2006 franchise debut.
The partnership marks another major crossover between Metallica and the gaming world, giving fans a chance to experience the band’s music and imagery in one of gaming’s most iconic franchises.
