Metallica are marking the 10th anniversary of ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’ with a newly recut live video for “Hardwired.”
The thrash metal icons have shared the refreshed clip ahead of the milestone anniversary of their tenth studio album. August 20th also happens to mark 10 years since Metallica first performed “Hardwired” live, with the song making its debut during the band’s August 20th, 2016 show at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN.
The newly recut video features footage from that performance, while the audio has been sourced from the Deluxe Edition of ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’. The band reflected on the anniversary in a social media post:
“10 years ago today. Can you believe it? It’s been 10 years since that wild weekend in Minneapolis that started with the surprise announcement of ‘Hardwired…To Self-Destruct’ and ended with the live debut of ‘Hardwired.’
A newly recut video of ‘Hardwired’ from U.S. Bank Stadium, featuring live audio from the Deluxe Edition of the album, is up on our YouTube channel now.”
The release gives fans another look back at the period surrounding the surprise announcement of ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’, which would ultimately arrive in November 2016.
