Metallica‘s iconic track “Master of Puppets,” from their 6x platinum-certified third studio album, has officially surpassed 1 billion plays on Spotify. Originally released as the sole single from the landmark 1986 thrash metal album, the song remains a fan favorite.

Decades after its release, the track saw a dramatic resurgence, largely thanks to its inclusion in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things. “Master of Puppets” now joins the ranks of Metallica‘s other massive hits, “Enter Sandman” and “Nothing Else Matters,” making it the band’s third song to reach the 1 billion plays milestone on Spotify.
