Meteorologist Offers Insight His Role in Sleep Token’s Latest Mysterious Promo Campaign

Sleep Token have made a name for themselves with mysterious, theatrical rollouts—and their campaign for the upcoming album Even In Arcadia has proven no different. As part of the lead-up, the enigmatic alternative metal group recruited Chris Michaels, a meteorologist from Raleigh, NC, who happens to be a longtime metal fan, to subtly drop clues on-air and online.

What started as altered weather maps and cryptic forecasts evolved into a full-blown ARG-style puzzle, featuring hidden morse code and layered visuals. Michaels shared a behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together via WRAL, where he also reflected on the surreal opportunity:

“Though there was one more puzzle piece that we never got to show, I’m honored to have been a part of this project with a band who’s been one of my favorites since 2021.

To blend my two loves – weather and music – is something I will never forget.

I have to say thank you to Sleep Token, its management and its label, RCA Records, for including me in this project. It took a lot for them to trust me – someone they don’t know – with something confidential. The vast majority of fans showed me more love and support than I ever thought possible. I also have to say thank you to the management here at WRAL. You put a lot of trust in me to do something out of the norm. For that, I will be full of (as Sleep Token would say) “eternal gratitude.”

Expect a few of the lyrics to be woven into the forecast during the Saturday morning newscast.”

Michaels even hinted that fans should expect subtle lyrical nods in his Saturday morning forecast.

All of this led up to today’s (April 4th) official release of Sleep Token’s new single, “Caramel,” the second preview from Even In Arcadia, due out May 9th via RCA Records.
