Danish blackgaze outfit MØL have released their long-awaited new studio album ‘DREAMCRUSH’, which officially dropped today, January 30. Coinciding with the album’s release, the band have also unveiled a new music video for the track “Hud.”
The clip was directed by John Bradburn and serves as one of the most personal moments on the record. Guitarist Nicolai Hansen spoke about the origins of the song, explaining that it marked a pivotal creative and emotional turning point for him following the release of the band’s previous album ‘Diorama’ and the birth of his daughter.
“‘Hud’ was the first composition I started on after we released ‘Diorama’ and after the birth of my daughter,” Hansen said. “Listening to the song always takes me back to sitting on our living room floor with a guitar in hand and plucking away while she would play. The track is seminal to me in that it not only helped me form ideas on how the record should sound, but also becoming a father.”
‘DREAMCRUSH’ continues MØL’s evolution of shimmering atmospheres and emotionally driven black metal, with “Hud” standing out as a deeply reflective centerpiece tied closely to the album’s genesis.
