Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has been released on a $1 million bond following a police-involved shooting in Los Angeles earlier this week. Lauren is currently facing charges of attempted murder after allegedly opening fire on officers during the incident.
According to an updated report from TMZ, new information provided by law enforcement claims that Lauren ignored repeated commands to drop her firearm and ultimately discharged a single shot before being shot in the shoulder by responding officers. She was later taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, treated, and subsequently booked on the attempted murder charge. A 9mm handgun was recovered from her home.
The confrontation occurred Tuesday afternoon in L.A.’s Eagle Rock neighborhood while LAPD officers were actively searching for a male suspect involved in a hit-and-run. As officers moved into a residential backyard during the search, Lauren reportedly exited a nearby residence holding a handgun.
Despite orders from police to drop the weapon, Lauren allegedly raised the firearm toward officers, prompting them to open fire. The male hit-and-run suspect was eventually discovered at the scene—reportedly wearing only underwear and hiding in a backyard pool—and was taken into custody. Police later confirmed Lauren was not connected to the original hit-and-run case.
Newly surfaced police scanner audio provides further insight into the unfolding events. One officer is heard describing a “female Hispanic, long gray shirt, black hair, black pants, she has a gun in her hand.” Another voice later confirms, “Female suspect was the one that shot at us,” and adds, “Female suspect’s going to be wanted for ADW [assault with a deadly weapon] on the PO [police officer].”
While Lauren has since posted bond, the investigation remains ongoing. Two additional suspects related to the hit-and-run reportedly remain at large.
