Grindcore outfit No/Más have premiered “Ley Indígena,” the second single to be released from their forthcoming new album ‘No Peace’. The record is scheduled to arrive on March 13th via Redefining Darkness Records, continuing the band’s abrasive, politically charged approach to extreme music.
Vocalist Roger Rivadeneira explained that “Ley Indígena” draws directly from the realities faced by Indigenous communities in his home country of Ecuador. The song’s title translates to “Indigenous law,” a form of justice recognized by Ecuador’s constitution that often exists in tension with national law and is frequently exercised through protest or community-based enforcement.
Rivadeneira pointed to the city of Cuenca as a stark example, where signs warn that thieves caught in the act may face brutal consequences. While extreme, he notes that such measures reflect communities taking justice into their own hands in environments plagued by corruption and violence. According to the vocalist, the track became his favorite to write for the album, encapsulating the idea that peace is sometimes forged through confrontation rather than restraint.
Guitarist John Letzkus offered a more direct summary of the song’s creative intent, describing it simply as an experiment in blending Napalm Death–style grindcore with the rhythmic heft of Sepultura.
