Texan progressive doom metal outfit, Oceans Of Slumber, has dropped the title track from their highly anticipated studio album, Where Gods Fear To Speak. Slated for a September 13th release via Season Of Mist, this 10-song album promises to captivate listeners with its dark cinematic metal vibes.
Drummer Dobber Beverly describes the album as a venture into “dark cinematic metal,” likening it to the grand scale of a blockbuster IMAX movie. The band has evolved the raw and heavy direction of their previous albums to new heights with this release.
The cinematic aspect isn’t just talk; according to a press release, Where Gods Fear To Speak draws inspiration from iconic works like “Dune,” “Blade Runner,” and “The Dark Tower,” blurring ideological lines while staying grounded in real-life events.
A Josh Vargas video for the title track is available below. Cammie Beverly, the band’s vocalist, offered:
“I’ve always wanted to do death growls. ‘Where Gods Fear To Speak‘ presented the perfect opportunity. Mixing harsh vocals in with my cleans speaks to that tug of war between pleasure and pain, though there’s a freedom that comes with pushing my voice past its perceived breaking point.”
