Repentance have released a new music video for “Fade Into Silence”, dedicating the track to their late guitarist Shaun Glass.
Glass, who was also known for his work with Broken Hope and SOiL, passed away earlier this year. His death was announced in July, leaving a lasting impact on the band he helped form and shape.
“Fade Into Silence” appears on Repentance’s upcoming third studio album, ‘Retaliate’. The record had originally been planned for a summer release, but the band ultimately pushed it back to November 27th following Glass’ passing.
Vocalist Adam Gilly explained why the band chose the song as their tribute to Glass, noting that the guitarist himself wrote the track.
“We decided that ‘Fade Into Silence’ would be the next single from the record because we wanted to dedicate this release to Shaun Glass. Of all the songs on the record, ‘Fade Into Silence’ just felt like the perfect song to honor him – especially because it was a song that Shaun himself wrote.”
Gilly went on to describe Glass as much more than a bandmate, emphasizing the guitarist’s foundational role in Repentance and the impact his death has had on the group.
“His unexpected passing has left a major hole in our hearts and in this band. Shaun wasn’t just a bandmate or a friend; he was our brother. He was the one who created this band and helped give it its identity, and he was deeply loved by everyone of us.”
He added that the song now carries a significance the band never anticipated.
“This song now carries a meaning we never expected it to have. Every note is a reminder of Shaun, his creativity, his passion, and everything he gave to this band. We’re proud to dedicate ‘Fade Into Silence’ to our brother and friend, Shaun Glass. His music, his influence, and his memory will always be a part of us. Rest easy, Shaun. This one is for you.”
