Progressive deathcore outfit Our Common Collapse have returned with their latest standalone single, “Ritual,” which arrived online today, August 27th, accompanied by a new visualizer.
The track marks the band’s second standalone release and follows their recent signing with 3DOT Recordings, the label founded by Periphery, which they joined last month.
Guitarist and producer Elliot Merriman offered some insight into the themes behind “Ritual,” describing the song as an exploration of destructive habits and the strange comfort that can come with remaining trapped in them.
“About a parasitic relationship with vices and escapism and how it secludes you, making you feel stuck and isolated but comfortable at the same time—a repeating cycle or ritual.”
