OZZY OSBOURNE Unveils Final Memoir ‘Last Rites’ and Donates Artwork for Chimpanzee Charity Auction

Legendary metal icon Ozzy Osbourne has announced his forthcoming final memoir, Last Rites, set to be released on October 7th via Grand Central Publishing. The book promises an intimate look into the later years of Ozzy’s life, particularly focusing on his ongoing health struggles that have forced him to retire from touring, including his battle with Parkinson’s disease and complications following a 2019 fall that dislodged several steel rods implanted during prior surgeries.

The Prince of Darkness also opens up about his life story, including heartfelt reflections on his final moments with the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, among other personal stories. Last Rites will also touch on the recent ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert, a star-studded live event held in Birmingham, UK. That show served as a final farewell for both Ozzy’s live career and the legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath. The event featured performances from iconic acts like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, and many more — raising over $190 million for charity.

On the memoir, Ozzy shared:

“People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything? I’m, like, fuck no. If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. Look, if it ends tomorrow, I can’t complain. I’ve been all around the world. Seen a lot of things. I’ve done good… and I’ve done bad. But right now, I’m not ready to go anywhere.”

In other news, Ozzy is contributing to charity with a unique auction benefiting Save The Chimps, a Florida-based sanctuary for rescued apes. He’s offering five paintings he created, which have been enhanced with brushstrokes by the sanctuary’s chimpanzees. Ozzy explained:

“I paint because it gives me peace of mind, but I don’t sell my paintings. I’ve made an exception with these collaborations as it raises money for Save The Chimps, a sanctuary for hundreds of apes rescued from labs, roadside zoos and wildlife traffickers.”

His wife and longtime manager Sharon Osbourne added:

“Chimps are our closest relatives in the animal kingdom, and I’m really proud of Ozzy for helping look after them. These paintings will not only raise much-needed funds for the sanctuary, they’ll help promote awareness to the public.”
