Parkway Drive Address Former Employee’s Guilty Plea In Underage Sex Case

Australian metalcore outfit Parkway Drive have issued an official statement addressing the recent guilty plea of a former member of their extended touring and merchandise team.

As previously reported, Jed Gordon — the brother of Parkway Drive drummer Ben Gordon and a longtime merchandise worker associated with the band — pleaded guilty to charges involving sexual activity with a minor aged between 14 and 16. The case stems from an incident dating back to 2002.

Following public reporting surrounding the case, the band released a statement condemning the offense while clarifying their past professional association with him.

“We’ve recently learned that someone we’ve been associated with has pleaded guilty to an underage sex offence in 2002.

This is appalling and we condemn it. We’re gutted and we support the victim.

This happened before we were a band, however we bear moral responsibility for contracting him from 2003, on and off over the years.

While he hasn’t toured with us since 2017, more recently he’s been part of our Australian online merch team. When the band heard about this, we terminated his contract immediately. He’s no longer involved with Parkway Drive in any capacity.

This is heartbreaking on a very human scale.

This is still ongoing in the courts so we’re closing comments.”

According to the band, Gordon’s working relationship with them ended immediately upon their learning of the guilty plea, and he no longer has any involvement with the group.

No additional public comments have been made by the band at this time as legal proceedings continue.
