Party Cannon turned the 2026 edition of Bloodstock Open Air into something of a banana convention this week, with a sizable portion of the crowd showing up in banana costumes and armed with inflatable toys.
The unusual scene comes several months after a controversial incident involving a banana-costumed fan and End It.
Back in June, End It called attention to a fan wearing a banana costume during their June 5th show in Toronto, Ontario. The band offered a setlist to whoever managed to tear apart the fan’s costume, resulting in other members of the audience swarming the individual.
Footage of the incident quickly circulated online, sparking plenty of debate over whether the band’s actions were justified.
The fan later explained that he wasn’t attempting to make any sort of statement with the costume and regularly attends concerts dressed as a banana. He also claimed that End It never apologized to him following the incident.
End It vocalist Akil Godsey eventually addressed the controversy, largely brushing off the criticism surrounding the incident. However, the situation later took a somewhat different turn when Godsey appeared to bury the hatchet with another banana-costumed fan during the band’s June 27th performance at Jera On Air in Ysselsteyn, Netherlands.
Fast forward to August 7th, and the banana phenomenon was seemingly still going strong.
During Party Cannon’s set at Bloodstock Open Air, the brutal death metal outfit was joined by a crowd featuring multiple people dressed as bananas, with the resulting circle pit looking considerably more like a fruit-themed mosh pit.
The band’s famously chaotic and irreverent approach to live performances makes them a particularly fitting destination for such nonsense, and judging by the footage from Bloodstock, the banana enthusiasts appeared to have found their new home.
Whatever started the banana craze, Party Cannon seem more than happy to keep it going.
