Pearl Jam To Unveil New Drummer At Ohana Festival Following Matt Cameron’s Exit

Pearl Jam have officially found the musician set to replace longtime drummer Matt Cameron, though fans will have to wait a little longer to learn who landed the coveted role behind the kit.

The legendary Seattle rock outfit has been keeping quiet about the identity of their new drummer following Cameron’s departure last year after a 27-year run with the band. However, guitarist Stone Gossard recently confirmed that a replacement has already been chosen.

Speaking on the band’s SiriusXM channel, Gossard explained that Pearl Jam are intentionally holding back the reveal ahead of their upcoming live return later this year.

“I love the mystery of it all. It’s so exciting. There’s not enough mystery in the world. I think the band is very excited that we’re actually getting to play. It’s been a while and the fact that we get to do it at ‘Ohana’ makes it even doubly exciting. And the fact that nobody knows who’s going to play drums with us even makes it triply exciting. So, it’s our mystery wrapped in an enigma and we’re relishing in it right now.”

The band are expected to debut their new drummer live on September 27th when they headline the final night of the 10th annual Ohana Festival at Doheny State Beach.

Cameron originally joined Pearl Jam in 1998 following his celebrated run with Soundgarden, becoming the longest-serving drummer in the group’s history. During his tenure, he performed on albums including Binaural, Riot Act, Backspacer, Lightning Bolt, Gigaton and Dark Matter.

For now, the identity of the new drummer remains under wraps, though speculation across the fanbase has continued to intensify as the band’s return to the stage draws closer.
