PERSEFONE Share “Living Waves” Performance From Upcoming Orchestral Live Album ‘Live In Andorra’

Progressive death metal veterans Persefone have announced their upcoming live album Live In Andorra, set to arrive December 5th through Napalm Records. The record captures the band’s one-of-a-kind performance alongside the Orquestra Nacional Clàssica d’Andorra, which took place in May 2024 at the National Auditorium in Ordino, Andorra.

The special collaboration marked the band’s 20th anniversary and their first hometown show in a decade. To preview the release, the group have shared the live orchestral rendition of “Living Waves”, the first single from the 14-song set.

Although Paul Masvidal (Cynic) wasn’t present to reprise his original studio vocals, his parts were featured through backing tracks during the performance. The band reflected on the song’s significance, sharing:

“‘Living Waves’ has to be one of the most important songs in our catalog. At least, that’s what we feel from the crowd every time we perform it live. Maybe it’s because we had the chance to work with Paul Masvidal, one of our biggest inspirations in music. Maybe it’s because of the deep meaning of the lyrics, or just because it has its own particular energy. This performance really makes the song shine, and it was a no-brainer for us to share it with everyone as one of the singles for the release.”

Discussing the experience of performing with a full orchestra, Persefone added:

“It is not everyday that you can celebrate the history of your band with such a unique set of circumstances. Playing at home after so many years, in front of our people, at the National Hall, with the National Orchestra, was something we never imagined would even be a possibility. But when the opportunity appeared, we just couldn’t say no, and we knew we wanted to have this whole experience immortalized for everyone to take part in it. This show is a way of coming full circle, from a crappy rehearsal room and our first shows in clubs, to being able to perform at such an iconic place in our country.
