Colombian crossover outfit Poison The Preacher have released the official video for their new track “Things I Want,” featuring guest vocals from Jem Siow of Australian hardcore band SPEED. The song will appear on Poison The Preacher’s upcoming EP of the same name, due out July 17 via Seek & Strike.
The collaboration traces back to the bands meeting while touring Latin America together, with frontman Juan Pablo Carrera explaining that the connection formed naturally on the road.
“We first met SPEED when we played with them on their Latin American tour. I’ve stayed in touch with Jem and this collaboration organically happened from there. He really loved our live performance and was really psyched with us.”
Carrera noted that the relationship quickly moved beyond the stage after the show in Bogotá.
“The day after the show we hung out all day through Bogotá, showing them around and whatnot.”
That time together ultimately led to the idea for the feature, with Jem Siow initiating the collaboration after the bands connected personally.
“That’s when Jem told me he wanted to do the collab, he asked me if we could still make it happen when he gets back from tour, and it was honestly on the edge of being too late, but we managed to make it work,”
He added that the chemistry between both camps made the decision simple.
“We love SPEED and after meeting them we love the guys and we became good friends so it was logical to make this collab asap.”
“Things I Want” serves as a key preview of Poison The Preacher’s forthcoming EP, arriving July 17 via Seek & Strike, as the band continues to build momentum off recent international touring.
