Chicago psych-doom outfit REZN have unveiled “Rites Of Passage,” the second single from their upcoming album ‘Cycles In The Infinite Dream’.
The new track arrives less than a month after the band announced the record and released its lead single, “Cloudfall.” The album is scheduled to arrive on July 24 and continues REZN’s blend of expansive psychedelic textures, crushing doom riffs, and atmospheric songwriting.
Vocalist and guitarist Rob McWilliams explained that “Rites Of Passage” was chosen in part because it showcases the dynamic approach that defines much of the upcoming album.
“We wanted to go for a barreling, rolling feel between the rhythm and lead, so this one felt perfect for emphasizing those elements while giving you a glimpse into the rest of the album.”
He added that the song’s finale captures the spirit of the record’s larger sonic journey.
“The end payoff is the epitome of that feeling, just letting it ride with a thousand-pound drone to send you off on the journey.”
The music video for “Rites Of Passage” was co-directed by Chris Owsiany and Tom Conway.
Alongside the new single, REZN continue to build anticipation for ‘Cycles In The Infinite Dream’ with an extensive touring schedule that includes European festival appearances, support dates alongside Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Elder, and All Them Witches, as well as a lengthy North American headline run this fall.
