Ice Nine Kills guitarist Ricky Armellino has announced that he will be stepping away from the band’s ongoing European/UK touring plans. Armellino cited ongoing nerve pain issues and care needs for his aging dog as the primary reasons for taking an extended break—one that he estimates will last about six months.
In a series of comments directed at fans, Armellino explained that he has dealt with persistent shoulder and nerve pain, having already seen “as many professionals as I can afford.” He added that the situation with his dog involves “advancing age and specific care needs,” making touring unrealistic for the time being.
Stepping in for him throughout the tour is Steve Sopchak, a producer/songwriter long connected to the Ice Nine Kills camp.
Armellino wrote:
“Man, I am so sorry for how hard it has been to approach this, but after seeing as many professionals as I can afford I am having to accept that my body and nerves are going to need some extended recovery time as I also keep a closer eye on my pet as he has his own needs that need addressed as well. @squaresteve thanks for covering for me. I will be sitting out for @iceninekills european tour and returning next year!”
Armellino added that he plans to return in 2026 once he has had the time needed to recover.
