SCATTERBRAIN (Ex-I Prevail Vocalist Brian Burkheiser) Debuts With Metal Rework Of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”

Former I Prevail vocalist Brian Burkheiser has officially launched his new solo endeavor Scatterbrain, marking his first musical step forward since parting ways with the melodic metalcore outfit earlier this year. The rollout of this project hasn’t been entirely smooth—its early stages were entangled in a dispute with his former bandmates—but Burkheiser has now formally introduced Scatterbrain with a heavy, metallic reimagining of Taylor Swift’s 2017 single Look What You Made Me Do.

The song arrives alongside a music video directed by Ben Proulx.

Speaking on finally putting the project into the world, Burkheiser shared an open message to fans:

“This year forced me to pivot in ways I never expected, and it tested me more than I can explain. But through it all, your support has meant everything.

I’m excited to finally share a song with you. I chose this cover because it truly resonates with me and serves as a nod to what first sparked my career.

I’m still working toward the day I can release my original music, but for now, I’m grateful to have found a way to put a piece of art into the world.”

Burkheiser and I Prevail officially split last May. In the months since, he has become increasingly vocal about mental health advocacy while remaining transparent about the challenges he has faced while assembling Scatterbrain’s debut material.
