Slaughter To Prevail have officially released the music video for “Koschei,” one of the standout tracks from their latest album, GRIZZLY. The cinematic visual, directed by Ave Warriors Studio, arrives after several days of teasers and expands on the song’s deep roots in Slavic mythology.
Frontman Alex Terrible explained that the track centers around Koschei the Immortal, a legendary figure from Slavic folklore known for hiding his death outside of his body, making him nearly impossible to destroy.
“Koschei, or Koschei The Immortal, is one of the most iconic figures in Slavic mythology and folklore. He’s an ancient sorcerer who cannot be killed by ordinary means because his death is hidden outside of his body,” Terrible explained.
According to the mythology, Koschei’s death is concealed within a needle hidden inside a series of objects, making it nearly impossible to locate. Terrible said the character symbolizes something much deeper than physical immortality.
“He embodies the idea that the true essence of a being exists beyond the body itself.”
The vocalist went on to describe the song as a reflection on mortality, spirituality, and what remains after physical death.
“The whole song is about the idea that even if you manage to discover how to kill Koschei, his essence, his soul, his energy lives on and is simply reborn into something else.”
He added that the track serves as a reminder to focus less on material possessions and more on developing a lasting spiritual legacy.
With the release of the “Koschei” music video, Slaughter To Prevail continue building momentum behind GRIZZLY as they prepare for a busy stretch of touring across Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America. The band has previously indicated that 2027 will be a quieter year, making the remaining dates of the current album cycle especially significant for fans.
