SUN DONT SHINE, the heavy supergroup featuring Kirk Windstein (Crowbar), Kenny Hickey, Johnny Kelly, and Todd Strange, have released their first single, “Power To Live,” ahead of their debut album From Birth To Death, set to arrive April 1 via Corpse Paint Records.
According to the band, “Power To Live” emerged from a discussion surrounding the single’s striking cover art. Hickey reflected on humanity’s ongoing failures, noting:
“It’s shameful that, as human beings, we still haven’t evolved beyond killing one another. That observation became the song’s core — a stark acknowledgment of history’s repeated failures, paired with a refusal to surrender to them.”
The band elaborates:
“The track is a challenge to the times we’re living in — an insistence on survival and consciousness in the face of cycles that refuse to break.”
In conjunction with the release, SUN DONT SHINE have unveiled a limited-edition art collaboration with Nadiya Vizier, featuring 100 hand-signed posters. A music video for “Power To Live,” directed by Mike Holderbeast (Down, Corrosion Of Conformity), is scheduled to premiere on February 18th.
This single sets the stage for From Birth To Death, promising a debut that blends doom-laden heaviness, introspective lyrics, and the combined experience of some of metal’s most seasoned musicians.
