Bay Area thrash staples Testament aren’t slowing down after the arrival of their fourteenth studio album Para Bellum last October. The band are already assembling material for what could become their next record, with multiple fresh compositions reportedly taking shape.
Frontman Chuck Billy recently spoke about the progress during an interview, revealing that guitarist Eric Peterson and drummer Chris Dovas have been actively writing and refining ideas for the follow-up.
“Eric [Peterson, Testament guitarist/vocalist] and Chris [Dovas, Testament drummer] actually have been working on a future record. I got a call from Eric yesterday saying Chris just got home, and ‘Oh, me and Chris got about six more tunes ready to go and they already had two to start. So they’re already on their way to another record, ya know?”
Billy went on to describe the momentum behind the sessions and the band’s motivation to keep the creative process moving while off the road:
“I’m kind of fired up because it’s been a long time to come really quick with writing music. But it’s been working and feeling really good with Chris, so we’re like, why not? You know, we’re not on the road yet, so we’re gonna get busy. So, right now, let’s take advantage of that and, you know, write some more music. Why not?”
Next month, Testament will return to the stage as headliners on the ‘Thrash Of The Titans Tour’, joined by Overkill and Destruction.
