The Mars Volta Shock Fans by Performing Unannounced New Album in Full on Tour Kickoff

The Mars Volta left fans in shock earlier this week when they kicked off their latest tour by performing their yet-to-be-announced new album in its entirety. Speculation about the record had been swirling for the past month, fueled by leaked product listings that hinted at its existence. Additionally, an alleged audio leak of the effort has been making the rounds among fans, though it’s unclear if it represents the final version.

According to those leaks, the album is titled Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacio and is expected to drop on April 11th. While The Mars Volta have yet to officially confirm anything, their set at the Moda Center in Portland, OR on February 25th seemingly spoke for itself. With the second night of the trek taking place at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA on February 27th, fans came prepared with cameras rolling.

Despite the album’s surprise debut being out in the open, the band doubled down with another full playthrough, giving fans another chance to experience the material firsthand. Fan-filmed footage from the performance can be seen below.
