Mathy post-hardcore outfit The Number Twelve Looks Like You are set to return with their first new studio album in six years. The band have announced ‘Howls From The Holographic Heart’ for an October 16th release through Equal Vision.
The 12-track effort follows 2019’s ‘Wild Gods’ and will close with “Joy Is A Weapon,” which has been selected as the album’s first single. The track features guest appearances from Foxy Shazam vocalist Eric Nally and horn player Alex Nauth.
The song arrives with a new music video co-directed by The Number Twelve Looks Like You vocalist Jesse Korman and Tom Haas, with Nally also contributing to the clip.
You can watch the “Joy Is A Weapon” video below.
The band described the track’s central message collectively:
“Sometimes the most powerful act of rebellion isn’t fighting back, it’s finding joy any way possible and refusing to be broken.”
Speaking about the new album, Korman says the band approached the material without attempting to recreate expectations surrounding their past work.
“This is a very honest album. We don’t want to live up to what everyone just expects of us, and at this point in our career, we have nothing to lose.”
The record was co-produced by the band’s own Alexis Paredja, who handles guitar, keyboards and vocals, alongside Jeremy Cormitas (Senses Fail, Chiodos) and Trae Titus.
