Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee Revived Under New California Law

Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee is once again facing a sexual assault lawsuit, after the case was refiled under a newly enacted California law. The suit was brought by Heather Taylor, who initially filed anonymously as a Jane Doe in 2023 before the case was dismissed last year due to procedural and statute-of-limitations issues.

Taylor alleges that the incident occurred in 2003, when she says she was lured onto a sightseeing helicopter flight by pilot David Martz, who later died in a separate accident. According to the complaint, Taylor claims she was not informed that Lee would also be on board, and alleges that alcohol and drugs were consumed during the flight.

The lawsuit further alleges that Lee sexually assaulted her during the helicopter ride, including unwanted physical contact and attempted sexual acts. The case was previously dismissed in 2024 amid questions over how it was filed and whether it qualified under California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act.

The lawsuit has now been revived following the passage of California Assembly Bill 250 (AB 250), which created a temporary revival window allowing certain previously time-barred sexual assault claims to be refiled. The window runs from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027.

According to Rolling Stone, Taylor is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages and has requested a jury trial. The refiled suit includes claims of sexual battery, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence against Lee.

Lee has not publicly commented on the revived lawsuit as of this writing.
