While 2025 marked the return of influential mathcore band The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza to the live stage for the first time since 2011, questions have arisen regarding the absence of guitarist Josh Travis. When the band announced their return, an August 2025 post seemed to suggest a three-guitar lineup, with Travis, the returning Layne Meylain, and new recruit Eric Berngruber. However, Travis was notably absent at both reunion shows, raising concerns among fans.
As the band works on their first new album since 2012, speculation surrounding Travis’ status has only intensified. Acknowledging the growing questions, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza addressed the situation today, December 1st, by releasing a video on social media promising to clear things up during an upcoming episode of The Totally Legitimate Business Podcast.
While that episode is set to air this Sunday, December 7th, the teaser video’s thumbnail suggests that Travis remains involved with the band. The video’s description even teases that “Josh reflects on his own creative progression, and what the future could hold for the band’s next chapter.”
Travis, a defining element of The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza’s signature sound with his innovative riffing, had been a core member during the band’s early years. After their hiatus, he joined Emmure in 2016, where he has continued to make his mark.
