Philadelphia-based black metal outfit Unholy Altar have inked a new record deal with BLKIIBLK Records, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the band as they prepare to unleash what they describe as their darkest material to date.
The group announced the signing with a brief statement, hinting that their upcoming output will take things into particularly sinister territory.
“We are pleased to announce that Unholy Altar has joined forces with BLKIIBLK Records. A new chapter begins, and with it comes our darkest offering yet. The gates have opened.”
Mike Gitter, Head of BLKIIBLK and Global Head of A&R for Frontiers Label Group, also welcomed the band to the label, praising their work within the underground black metal scene and their distinct musical identity.
“Unholy Altar has quickly become one of the most exciting bands in modern black metal. They’ve put in the work in the underground, bringing together their metal roots with an atmosphere and aesthetic that’s entirely their own. There’s a real sense of danger to this band. They’re evocative, unsettling and genuinely disturbing in all the right ways. Everything great black metal should be.”
Unholy Altar’s signing comes as the band continue to build their presence on the live circuit. Their upcoming schedule includes a hometown performance in Philadelphia alongside Kontusion, Hedonist, and Kinetic Orbital Strike, as well as appearances at Northwest Terror Fest and Maryland Deathfest.
The band’s currently announced live dates include:
December 4, 2026 – Philadelphia, PA – Kung Fu Necktie (with Kontusion, Hedonist & Kinetic Orbital Strike)
May 3, 2027 – Baltimore, MD – Maryland Deathfest
May 6–8, 2027 – Seattle, WA – Northwest Terror Fest
With a new label partnership in place and promises of their darkest material yet, Unholy Altar appear poised to enter an intriguing new phase of their career.
